Our Story

Bridget’s Battalion draws its inspiration from the remarkable journey of Firefighter Bridget McCulligan and the unwavering support of her family and friends during her battle with cancer. Witnessing the strength of this community rallying around Bridget, the idea for Bridget’s Battalion was conceived.

Our journey began in March 2016, amidst Bridget’s initial diagnosis of oral cancer, with a heartfelt fundraiser held at Anthony’s Cafe in Fishtown, Philadelphia. The overwhelming turnout spoke volumes about the depth of care and camaraderie shared among us. Fast forward to 2023, as Bridget confronted cancer for the third time, the community once again united, organizing ‘Boo’s & Brews.’ Being as Bridget’s favorite holiday is Halloween, we had a Halloween-themed benefit where everyone dressed up in costume! Boo’s & Brews garnered tremendous support—bringing together over 250 individuals and showcasing over 70 generous raffle donations.

Recognizing the potential to extend our impact beyond Bridget’s journey, we embarked on a transformative journey. With the vision of aiding not just one, but many firefighters and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) professionals battling cancer, Bridget’s Battalion evolved into a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission now extends to providing direct support to our brave brothers and sisters in the firefighting and EMS communities, offering hope, assistance, and solidarity during their own battles.

With Bridget’s Battalion, every donation, every effort, and every act of kindness reverberates beyond individual battles, illuminating the path for a community united in resilience and compassion.

Bridget’s Battalion is proud to be recognized as a verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, operating under EIN: 93-3425573.
